School dropout is rarely about a child's willingness to learn. It is almost always about economic pressure — a family that needs a child's labour, an examination fee they cannot pay, or the cost of a uniform they cannot afford. Shiksha Daan intervenes at these precise moments of vulnerability.
We identify the child at the edge of dropping out and provide exactly what is needed to keep them in school for one more year — and then one more after that.
Our field teams work with teachers to identify at-risk students. Support ranges from fee payment and examination cost coverage to monthly family stipends for the most economically vulnerable, to mentoring support from trained Sevartham volunteers.
